What it costs

What a bathroom renovation costs in the GTA.

Bathrooms are small rooms with a lot of trades in them, which is why the range is wider than people expect. Here is where most of ours land, and what pushes a project from one tier to the next.

Main or guest bath · $20,000–$28,000

Same footprint: new tub-shower or shower, vanity, toilet, tile, and fixtures. Usually 2–3 weeks.

Primary ensuite · $28,000–$38,000

Walk-in shower with glass, double vanity, heated floor, better lighting and ventilation. Same walls, upgraded everything. Usually 3 weeks.

Full rebuild · $38,000–$45,000+

Layout changes: plumbing relocated, freestanding tub, custom niches and benches, linen storage built in. Usually 3–4 weeks.

Moving the toilet or shower drain is the expensive decision — it means opening the floor and re-running drainage. Tile size and pattern, glass thickness, and whether you want heated floors account for most of the rest.

Common questions

Answers before you ask.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in the GTA?

Most of ours run $20,000 to $45,000. A main or guest bath in the same footprint is at the low end, a primary ensuite with a glass walk-in shower and heated floors sits in the middle, and relocating plumbing for a new layout puts you at the top.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

Two to four weeks, depending on scope. Bathrooms have more trades packed into a small room than any other renovation, and parts of the schedule are set by material and inspection timing rather than by labour. You get the sequence in writing before we start.

What should I decide before work starts?

Layout first — where the shower, tub, and vanity go — because that drives everything behind the walls. After that it is tile, vanity, and fixtures. We lock selections before demolition so nothing stalls mid-project waiting on a back-ordered piece.

Can I have a walk-in shower in a small bathroom?

Usually yes. A curbless or low-curb shower with a linear drain and a single glass panel reads much larger than a framed enclosure, and removing a rarely used tub often gains the room the space it needed. We will show you both layouts before you decide.

Are heated floors worth it?

In an ensuite or a main bath, most homeowners say yes. An electric mat under tile adds roughly $1,200 to $2,500 depending on the room, and it is only affordable to install while the floor is already open — retrofitting later means tearing the tile out again.
